Join the City of Normandy Park Food Drive
The City of Normandy Park is partnering with the Des Moines Area Food Bank in support of the community. I want to invite you to join us and give your support.
Why are we doing this? First and foremost, we believe in supporting our community and neighbors. But this food drive also helps us be responsible stewards of your tax dollars. While the connection might not be evident at first, it’s an important one. The City of Normandy Park’s health insurance is provided through the Association of Washington Cities (AWC), which offers a WellCity Award program. This program recognizes cities that meet high standards in promoting employee health and wellness. Cities that qualify receive a 2% discount on health insurance premiums—a savings that directly benefits taxpayers.
Normandy Park has proudly earned the WellCity Award for many years, and we’re committed to continuing that tradition. One of the award’s requirements is fostering community engagement. That’s why we’ve partnered with the Des Moines Area Food Bank to host this food drive, bringing our community together for a great cause.
The food drive started on August 1st and will run until September 30th. Drop by City Hall to donate. The most needed food items include:
- Peanut Butter
- Tuna
- Low Sodium Soup
- Pasta
- Canned Corn
- Rice
- Cereal
- 100% Fruit Juice boxes
- Macaroni & Cheese
There is also a need for non-food items, including toilet paper, diapers (sizes 4, 5, and 6), soap, laundry detergent, and dog food.
Please come by City Hall and drop off your items by the front counter. You can also visit the Des Moines Area Food Bank website to learn more about the organization or to donate directly. We thank you for your continued support!
If you have any questions about the information above or any other City topic, please get in touch with me at aarrington@normandyparkwa.gov. Have a great week!
