2026 City Goals: What We’re Working On
On Friday, January 9th, the City Council and staff met for our Annual Retreat to start shaping the City’s goals for 2026. This is our chance each year to step back, look at what’s working, and decide what we want to focus on in the year ahead.
We’re continuing progress on several 2025 goals and adding a few new priorities based on what will best serve our community. Curious about what your City Council is talking about? Here’s a snapshot of the goals we’re developing:
- Create a long-term plan for the future of City Hall
- Find funding for local road safety improvements, especially along 1st Avenue
- Build stronger community connections and bring people together
- Communicate more clearly and consistently with the public
- Update the City’s Emergency Management Plan and share with residents
- Increase our efforts in legislative advocacy
- Improve and expand our recreational facilities
- Support local businesses and boost business vitality
- Strengthen the City’s technology infrastructure
Next, we’ll take these goals to a Study Session to build a detailed work plan with clear steps and milestones. Our aim is to finalize everything in February. We’ll keep you posted on what’s coming next!
If you have any questions about this or other City topics, please email me at aarrington@normandyparkwa.gov. Have a great week!

The Annual Citizen Satisfaction Survey is Live! It is that time of year! Time for the Third Annual Citizen Satisfaction Survey. The City Council and staff are committed to delivering high-quality services to our community. To better understand how we’re doing and where we can improve, the City launched the annual Citizen Satisfaction Survey in 2024. By taking part, you help us learn what matters most to you and where we should focus our efforts. Your feedback truly guides our work, and your voice matters! As in previous years, the survey asks about your satisfaction with public safety, parks, public works, community development, and City communication. There’s also space to share any additional thoughts or ideas you may have. Once the survey closes, we’ll publish a full report on the results so residents can see what we heard and how we plan to respond.
