Give your input on the proposed Sports Court Project at City Hall Park

The City Council has expressed its desire to build a sports court at City Hall Park, and they want to hear from residents.

Background

In early 2024, the City approved the Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Plan (PROS Plan). This document establishes a 20-year plan to improve the City’s Park system. The number one ranked project was constructing a covered sports court at City Hall Park.

Proposed Project

Once completed, there will be two pickleball courts on the north side of City Hall. In addition, this project will include refurbishing the southside basketball courts and transforming them into one updated basketball court with some additional parking spaces. The City Council has decided the courts will be uncovered to minimize construction costs. The estimated completion date for this project is late 2025. 

Public Input

We want to know what you are thinking, what questions you have, and if you have any suggestions. To make it easier, we have a variety of options for you.

Storm Debris Pickup

Recently, the City of Normandy Park designated a storm event occurrence that will impact Single-Family Residence Customers who subscribe to Yard and Food Waste pickups.

On Tuesday, November 26th, December 10th, and December 24th, Single-Family Residence Customers in Normandy Park who subscribe to Yard Waste pickups may include an extra 96 gallons of Storm Debris with regular quantities of Compostables without additional charge.

  • Yard Debris includes leaves, grass, pruning’s, branches, and small trees.
  • Bundles of Yard Debris up to two feet in diameter by four feet in length and no more than 55 pounds shall be allowed and secured by degradable string or twine, no nylon, or other synthetic materials.
  • Kraft paper bags or garbage Cans labeled “Yard Debris” may also be used to container extra Yard Debris.
  • Materials larger than four inches in diameter or four feet long are excluded.

City Council Meeting Roundup. On Tuesday, May 13th, the City Council held its regular monthly meeting. Here are the meeting highlights to help keep you informed. Arts Commission Annual Presentation – Arts Commission members Chair Nadia Counter and Lawrence Peryer updated the City Council on the Commission’s work plan. We learned about past successes and the year ahead. Between meeting and event hours, members of the Arts Commission have volunteered for more than 280 hours this past year, promoting the arts in Normandy Park.
• Proclamation for Safe Boating Week – In recognition of the importance of safe boating practices, the City Council declared the week of May 17th – 23rd, as Safe Boating Week

Citizen Satisfaction Survey Closing Soon! The Annual Citizen Satisfaction Survey will close on Monday, June 2, 2025. Thank you to all the residents who have already taken the survey. For those who haven’t completed the survey, please take a moment to share your thoughts on public safety, parks, permitting, public works, and communication – your input can drive real change! Grant Opportunity for our Local Businesses Economic development is vital to our City, so we are always on the lookout for opportunities to support our local businesses. Because of this, I want to share some information about a grant that could help a Normandy Park business flourish. Comcast RISE is supporting the growth of small businesses and entrepreneurs committed to uplifting their local communities. The program is built to help businesses and their communities thrive with a focus on economic growth. To date, Comcast RISE has awarded 14,000 small businesses with over $140 million in monetary, marketing, and technology grants, and Comcast RISE is back in 2025.
