Would you like to help shape the future of Normandy Park? If you’re interested in how our community grows and evolves, serving on the Planning Commission could be a great opportunity for you.

The City is seeking an engaged and thoughtful community member to fill an open seat on the Planning Commission. This seven-member volunteer group works closely with the City Council and staff, offering recommendations on projects and ideas that impact the look, feel, and livability of Normandy Park. 

As a Planning Commissioner, you’ll be part of conversations about the City’s long-term vision, helping guide updates to the Comprehensive Plan and zoning regulations, and weighing in on topics like housing, transportation, environmental stewardship, and community development. It’s a meaningful way to learn more about how the City works while contributing your perspective to important decisions. 

What to Expect
The time commitment typically includes one evening meeting each month, along with some preparation time to review materials in advance. Occasionally, there may be opportunities to participate in smaller work groups. The current vacancy is for Position #3, and the term will expire in March 2028. 

Meetings are usually held on the third Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m. and offer a hybrid format, allowing for both in-person and virtual participation. While in-person attendance is encouraged, flexibility is available.
