City Council Meeting Roundup
On Tuesday, February 10th, the Normandy Park City Council held its regular monthly meeting. Below is a summary of key discussions and actions taken.
State Legislative Update
Legislative advocacy remains a priority for the City Council, and members discussed several bills currently under consideration in the Washington State Legislature. The Council reaffirmed its opposition to HB 2829, a proposed homeless response bill that would allow public camping. The Council expressed concern about the potential impacts on local communities and public safety.
The Council also discussed HB 2389, which modifies provisions regarding individuals who committed criminal offenses while under 18. After discussion, the Council reached consensus that the bill may create additional administrative burdens for cities and limit local authority to protect the public. The Council opposes the bill, citing concerns about its potential impacts and the need for more proven justice reform strategies.
Planning Commission Reappointment
Resident Moira Bradshaw was reappointed to the Planning Commission. The Planning Commission plays a vital role in the community by reviewing land use and zoning matters and making recommendations to the City Council. We appreciate Moira’s continued service and commitment to Normandy Park.
Parks and Recreation Facility Rental Policy Update
The City Council approved Resolution No. 1026, updating the City’s Parks and Recreation Facility Rental Policy. This update ensures the policy aligns with current facilities and operational practices. The City offers rentals at City Hall and Marvista Park for community gatherings, celebrations, and other events. The revised policy clarifies rental rules, expectations, and procedures. Graffiti Removal Contract
The City Council approved a contract for professional graffiti removal services. While City staff typically handle graffiti removal, this particular instance required specialized equipment beyond what the City currently has available. Maintaining a clean and welcoming community remains a priority, and hiring a professional contractor ensures the graffiti is removed safely and effectively.

Weekly Report – February 27, 2026
Our Annual Citizen Satisfaction Survey is now open, and I’d like to share a brief snapshot of what we’re hearing so far. Residents continue to express strong satisfaction with our Police and Parks services, reflecting the dedication of the people who serve our community every day. Based on the current survey, traffic enforcement, particularly speeding, is an area where many residents would like to see additional focus. Recreation programs remain well-regarded overall, and residents have shared interest in expanding the range of programs and opportunities offered by the City. We are also carefully reviewing feedback about opportunities for residents to engage with the City and maintaining confidence in how public funds are managed.
