Celebrate America 250 in Normandy Park
Normandy Park residents are invited to join a special community celebration honoring America’s 250th Anniversary. This historic milestone commemorates 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Throughout the week, the City of Normandy Park and the Normandy Park Community Club will offer a variety of family-friendly activities and special events, culminating in a spectacular fireworks display and Independence Day festivities.
America 250 Celebration Schedule
Monday, June 29 | 10:00 a.m. at City Hall | Betsy Ross & Birthday Cake
Join Betsy Ross for a birthday celebration featuring cake, stories about the first American flag, a reading of the Declaration of Independence, and other patriotic activities.
Tuesday, June 30 | 10:00 a.m. at City Hall | Pioneer Kids
Step back in time and discover what life was like for pioneer children. Participants can write on real slate, play pioneer games, explore a pioneer cabin, touch wool, complete puzzles, and build a miniature house. This free, hands-on program is designed for children ages 3–12 and their families, but everyone is welcome.
Wednesday, July 1 | 10:00 a.m. at City Hall | Festive Eagle Craft & Bird Education
Children will learn about local birds while creating a patriotic eagle-themed craft to celebrate America’s birthday.
Thursday, July 2 | 10:00 a.m. at City Hall | Bicycle Decorating Event
Join Teacher Ashley from the Normandy Park Preschool at City Hall for a fun bicycle decorating event. Supplies will be provided, and participants can prepare their bikes for the community parade and holiday festivities.
Friday, July 3 | Approximately 10:15 p.m. at The Cove | America 250 Fireworks Display
Enjoy a special one-time America 250 fireworks show presented by the Normandy Park Community Club. The display will begin at approximately 10:15 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
Due to limited parking, attendees are encouraged to walk, carpool, or use shared transportation whenever possible. Please review the event rules below.
Saturday, July 4 | 10:25 a.m. starting at Marvista Elementary | 2.8K Fun Run
This community run is free and open to all ages. Whether you’re racing for a personal best or simply enjoying the experience, participation is encouraged. The course runs from Marvista Elementary School to Marine View Drive and SW Normandy Terrace. Registration will be available on the day of the event only. Participants should arrive by 9:30 a.m. to register and pick up their race numbers.
Saturday, July 4 | 10:30 a.m. along Marine View Drive | Community Independence Day Parade
Everyone is welcome to participate in Normandy Park’s annual Independence Day Parade. Participants should arrive at Marvista Elementary School by 10:15 a.m. to line up.
Classic cars, bicycles, wagons, strollers, marching bands, and other festive entries are encouraged. Campaign and political signs are not permitted.
Saturday, July 4 | Approximately 11:15 a.m. at The Cove | Ice Cream Social
Following the parade, community members are invited to gather at The Cove for a traditional Ice Cream Social featuring free hot dogs, beverages, popcorn, and ice cream.
Additional activities include classic car displays and an inflatable obstacle course. This annual tradition provides a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with friends, neighbors, and fellow community members before continuing your Independence Day celebrations.
America 250 is more than a birthday celebration; it is an opportunity to reflect on our nation’s history, honor those who have served our country, and celebrate the values that continue to unite our communities. We hope you will join us in commemorating this milestone.
