Normandy Park Police is part of the Coalition of Small Police Agencies, CSPA, that entered into an Interlocal Agreement in 2003. The participating cities are now Algona, Black Diamond, Carnation, Clyde Hill, Duvall, Hunts Point, Issaquah, Lake Forrest Park, Medina, Mercer Island, Normandy Park, Pacific, Snoqualmie and Yarrow Point.

These above cities have entered into a partnership of resource sharing that has been applauded and recognized throughout the State. Developing the Major Crimes Task Force in 2004 was monumental in accomplishing a great deal through truly shared resources. CSPA applied for and was granted legislative assistance to start and maintain the MCTF in 2004. The cities are legislatively budgeted $45,000 annually to support this cooperative investigation unit that includes representatives from any one of the CSPA group, the Washington State Patrol Crime Lab, King County Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS), the King County Prosecutor’s Office, King County Medical Examiner’s Office and other local and state enforcement organizations. CSPA was awarded the Association of Washington Cities 2004 AWC Municipal Achiever of the Year Award for “doing a lot with a little.”

CSPA also participates in a Special Operations Team. Officers selected for this team undergo advanced tactical training and are used in a variety of situations calling for officers with more advanced dynamic and tactical experience. CSPA is a shining example of what you can accomplish with cooperative partnerships.
