New 2021 Washington State Building Codes Effective Date March 15, 2024
Effective March 15th, 2024, all building permit application plans and supporting documentation must comply with the adopted 2021 Washington State Building Code. It replaces the 2018 edition.
On May 24, 2023, the State Building Code Council voted to delay the effective date of the 2021 editions of the model codes with Washington State Amendments for 120 days. Previously, the effective date was July 1, 2023.
Copies of the codes are available for viewing at Normandy Park City Hall. A free version of the international codes can be viewed on the International Code Council’s website.
