NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Planning Commission of the City of Normandy Park, Washington, will hold a public hearing on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. via Zoom. The purpose of the hearing will be to take public testimony concerning draft Ordinance No. 1018 regarding Title 18.30 Signs. The purpose of this amendment is to 1) update the code in light of the content-neutral prescriptions in case law established by the United States Supreme Court decision in Reed v. Town of Gilbert for municipal regulation of signs; 2) to update the code with other amendments that have been suggested for clarity, efficient review and permitting; and 3) to alleviate problems that have been prevalent with temporary signs throughout the city.

The purpose of this notice is to invited interested parties to testify or submit written evidence or information regarding the action. Such comments become part of the record. Upon completion of the public hearing the Planning Commission shall forward its recommendation to the City Council. The decision of the City Council on this action may be appealed to the Growth Management Hearings Board.

The SEPA responsible official has determined that this Type V action is categorically exempt (WAC 197-11-800) from the requirements of Chapter 43.21 RCW.

The applicant is the City of Normandy Park Community Development Department. A copy of the draft ordinance is available for review on the City website, and hardcopies can be requested.
