Walker Preserve Community Stewardship Event

Ready to get dirty for a good cause? Sign up for opportunities to help:

  • Plant and care for trees and shrubs
  • Remove plants like English ivy and Himalayan blackberry that harm urban forests
  • Clean up litter

No experience is necessary. You’ll learn on the job!

By volunteering, you help make the Miller and Walker Creek basins better for people, fish, and wildlife.

These volunteer projects welcome people of all ages. Younger people may need to be accompanied by an adult and/or a guardian’s signature — please email millerwalker@midsoundfisheries.org for further guidance.

What to Bring

– Gardening gloves/work gloves (we will have some to borrow if you need them)
– Closed-toe shoes are required! (ex: sturdy sneakers, rain boots, hiking boots. No sandals, heels, or flats)
– Layers of clothing that can get dirty
– Long sleeves and thick leg coverings to protect against thorny plants (shorts or capris are not recommended)
– Rain gear -OR- sunblock and a sun hat (be sure to check the weather)
– Water bottle
– We provide snacks and water!
