City Council Meeting Roundup

On Tuesday, December 12th, the City Council had its regular monthly meeting. To help keep you informed, here are the meeting highlights.

  • Chief Dan Yourkoski administered the Ceremonial Oath to Police Officer Garrett Gredell.
  • Chief Dan also presented a Normandy Park Officer Memorabilia Shadowbox The shadowbox is in the main hallway in City Hall, so drop by and check it out.
  • Representative Mia Gregerson attended the meeting to make a pre-session Legislative presentation.
  • The City Council received a progress report on the work that is being done to update the City’s PROS (Park, Recreation, and Open Space) Plan from the City’s consultant, SCJ The presentation included a review of the future park improvements that will be included in the plan.
  • The 2023-2024 budget was amended. Most of our current changes are standard and do not create any significant fiscal impacts.
  • The City Council approved the 2024 Fee Schedule.
  • A contract for a new Records Management Software System was approved.
  • The City Council accepted a King County Cooperative Watershed Management Grant that has been awarded to the City.
  • A few more projects were added to the Design and Construction Management Contract with Gray & Osborne for our 2024 Stormwater Projects list.

The Normandy Park Book Locker is Operational
The King County Library System (KCLS) has an operational book locker in front of City Hall. You can now send your KCLS holds to a private and secure locker in Normandy Park for flexible, convenient pickup. Unlock your next read!

You’ll need your all-access library card number and PIN/password to use this service. Here’s a link to learn how it works.  Don’t forget, you can also return your library items to the manual book drop which has been moved next to the book locker.

City Manager Report – October 11, 2024

On Tuesday, October 8th, the City Council held its regular monthly meeting. Here are the meeting highlights to help keep you informed. Three contracts were approved.
Contract renewal with SmartGov – The City renewed the contract with SmartGov to support the City’s online permitting system.
Contract with Placer AI – Placer AI is a location analytics company that collects geolocation data anonymously from mobile devices. This information will assist the City in developing city-specific analytics for any number of queries regarding customer behavior, commercial and business

City Manager Report – October 4, 2024

Demo day for the Walker and Sequoia Creek project is coming soon. The City Council approved a contract in September to clear all the structures off the property. A Cooperative Watershed Management grant from the King County Flood Control District funds this work. Once fully complete, this exciting project will benefit the environment and create a passive park for residents to enjoy.
