City Council Meeting on July 11th
The City Council holds a regular meeting on the second Tuesday of every month where they conduct all ordinary and routine business of the city. Meetings start at 7:00 pm, and the public is welcome to attend.
On Tuesday, July 11th, the City Council will meet to consider the following items:
- Implementing recommendations from the Normandy Park Economic Development Implementation Report into the City’s code.
- Amending the Municipal Code to establish guidelines related to City Councilmembers participating in meetings remotely.
- Adopting a policy that will authorize the write-off of uncollectable accounts receivable.
- Approval to write off certain uncollectable accounts.
- Request to approve the work program and operating budget of our regional partner, South King Housing and Homelessness Partners (SKHHP).
- Amending the Municipal Code to adopt State Statutes so the City can enforce the laws related to drug possession/use and drug paraphernalia.
- Approval of a design contract related to the Walker and Sequoia Creek Culvert Project.
For the City Council’s and the public’s benefit, staff prepares a summary and backup information for each item. This information is then assembled into a document we call an agenda packet. So, if you want to learn more about any of these items, use this link to review the packet. Also, please don’t forget that the public is invited to attend and participate either in person or remotely. If you prefer remote participation, the Zoom link can be found here. Public Comment is taken both at the beginning and close of each meeting. I hope to see you Tuesday.
Planning for a Future in the Parks
The City is currently working on the first component of the updated Parks, Recreation, and Open Space (PROS) Plan; the survey!
Residents are encouraged to participate by engaging in surveys, sharing ideas, and helping guide the City’s PROS plan. As you’re out and about in the city parks this summer, take some time to mull over what you like (or love!) about the parks, the playgrounds, and the open spaces, and what you’d like to see improved or enhanced.
This project allows us to work together and help prioritize the parks and recreation needs for the next 20 years. The PROS Plan fulfills the Growth Management Act planning requirements from the Washington State Department of Commerce (RCW 36.70A). An updated PROS Plan makes Normandy Park eligible for certain federal and state grants, especially through the Washington Recreation and Conservation Office. Resident input is crucial in assuring that program goals and priorities are consistent with community needs, and your input is a critical part of this process, so please, join in! Have questions? If you have any questions, please get in touch with me at aarrington@normandyparkwa.gov. Have a great week!

City Manager Report – November 15th, 2024
On Tuesday, November 12th, the City Council held its regular monthly meeting. Here are the meeting highlights to help keep you informed. The Port of Seattle made a presentation on the Sustainable Airport Master Plan (SAMP). The SAMP is the blueprint for changes at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) to meet future forecasted demand. The master plan process was completed in 2018 and identified 31 Near-Term Projects (NTPs) intended to serve 56 million annual passengers as well as flights and cargo activity at an optimal level of service. For more information, visit the SAMP website.
