Possible new City Hall and Police Station being Evaluated
As many of you know, the City is still considering options to replace our City Hall and Police Station. Based on resident feedback, our focus now is to look at possibilities that will be less costly than the proposed Civic Center that residents voted on in August 2022. As a result, we are currently reviewing an opportunity to purchase an existing building on First Avenue at the Towne Center Development rather than focusing on new construction.
We are still very early in the process, but the space that is being vetted will accommodate City Hall, the Police Station and provide some community space. A benefit of this facility is that it provides the space we need at a much lower cost, which aligns with the direction we received from residents. Again, we are very early in discussions, so more to come. I just wanted to inform you about this interesting opportunity the City is working on. As always, you are welcome to contact me if you want more details.
Provider related to City’s Permitting Services is Changing
Normandy Park is excited to announce that effective June 14th, we will begin a new partnership with BHC Consultants to provide complete building, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical permit review and inspections; and building official services for our residents, businesses, customers, clients, and stakeholders. This will be a seamless transition from our previous partners as applicants will continue to submit applications and request inspections through the same existing paths, whether for In-House paper at permits@normandyparkwa.gov or for SmartGov applications at https://normandyparkwa.gov/community-development/permits/.

4th of July Fireworks
As we get closer to the 4th of July holiday, I wanted to remind you that while the discharge of fireworks is permitted in Normandy Park, it is also regulated. The following rules must be followed.
- Fireworks may be discharged within city limits from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on July 3rd and from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on July 4th.
- You must be on private property (with permission of the property owner) – it is unlawful to discharge any fireworks on any public property. Public property includes parks, public open space, public playgrounds, public streets, public roads, or other publicly owned property in Normandy Park.
If you have any questions, please get in touch with me at aarrington@normandyparkwa.gov. Have a great week!
