City Council Meeting Roundup
On Tuesday, March 12th, the City Council held its regular monthly meeting. Here are the meeting highlights to help keep you informed.
- A resolution was approved, giving the City’s concurrence on housing projects recommended by the South King Housing and Homelessness Partnership (SKHHP). SKHHP is a joint board formed by an interlocal agreement between the jurisdictions of Auburn, Burien, Covington, Des Moines, Federal Way, Kent, Maple Valley, Normandy Park, Renton, SeaTac, Tukwila, and King County. Through SKHHP, South King County jurisdictions can take a coordinated and comprehensive approach to increasing housing stability and producing and preserving quality affordable housing in South King County. The SKHHP Housing Capital Fund will support the presented projects.
- Deputy Mayor Sue-Ann Hohimer was appointed to represent the City on the newly formed Highline Heritage Museum Advisory Committee.
- Councilmember Jack Lamanna was appointed to represent the City on the South County Area Transportation Board (SCATBd).
- The City Council gave its consensus and authorized staff to start administering a Community Grant Program. This program is intended to foster community connections. With this action, funding opportunities are now available for community groups for projects that build and strengthen connections within Normandy Park. Anyone interested in applying should contact the City Clerk for more information and the application.
If you want to learn more about these items, I encourage you to watch the meeting recording.
