HALLOWEEN SAFETY TIPS

As we prepare for Halloween on Monday, October 31st, I wanted to provide some safety tips for everyone.

•  Adults should accompany young children.
• Make sure to carry a flashlight since it will get dark early.
• Stay within the neighborhood and only visit well-lit homes you know.
• Make sure children can see well through face masks.
• Wear light-colored clothing that is short enough to prevent tripping, and add reflective tape to the costume’s sides, front, and back if possible.
• Watch for traffic!
• Only give and accept wrapped or packaged candy.
• Examine all candy before allowing children to eat it.
• Keep costumed children away from pets. The pet may not recognize the child and become frightened.
• Avoid hard plastic or wood props such as daggers or swords.  Substitute with foam rubber which is soft and flexible.

Donuts for Veterans

On Thursday, November 10th, the city and Parkside Garden Club invite you to Donuts for Veterans. The event will be from 9:00 am to 11:00 AM. Visit the Blue Star Memorial that day for free coffee and a donut to honor our Veterans!
